SoBe (Miami)
It seems like our Dekel Crew has been traveling non-stop lately, doesn’t it?! In case you missed it, we went almost immediately from Mexico to Miami (quick pit stop back home in between ☺), and I have so much to share with you all. We’re back in Brooklyn now, and I have a few free moments to write while the kids play and Noam makes breakfast. I’m excited to catch you up on our recent stay in the 305!
Miami is one of my favorite places to visit. I love the warmth, palm trees, beaches, Cuban food – it reminds me a lot of Israel, which always makes me smile. We stayed at the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach, and it was so beautiful. I touched upon this in my recap of Mexico, but it’s worth repeating because I think it’s relevant to all of the mamas reading this: when traveling now with the kids, Noam and I always make sure that there are great activities and events for them at the hotel, that will allow them to meet other kids and stay busy (aka: kids are not happy when they’re bored!) during the day. The Kimpton Surfcomber had a wide variety of kids’ activities, such as painting by the pool, Kids’ Olympics, and Amazing Race- esque scavenger hunts with a ‘treasure’ prize. Yuli and Ori are so outgoing and made, as usual, a ton of new friends. Romi, our little fishy, loved being by the pool with the little kiddos, too.
Rest assured, there weren’t only exciting activities for those under age 12! I took an assortment of exercise classes during our stay, such as yoga, aqua cycling, and Pilates (my favorite). We also rented a beach cabana, which we had from 9 AM through the evening. It was the perfect extra amenity for our beach-loving family. It not only provided sun protection for us during the warmest hours of the day, but it also served as a napping pod for Romi, and a covered place to eat lunch. And, it was literally right on the beach, just a few feet from the water – the views were relaxing and we couldn’t have asked for a better treat. Well, except maybe the daily wine hour for *adults only* between 4-5 PM. Noam and I shifted between cool rose’s and luscious reds, that were all completely complementary for of-age hotel guests.
You may have also seen that Noam and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary during the Miami trip. I can’t even believe how much our lives have changed in the last few years- it’s wild when I sit back and reflect upon it. But, there’s no one else I’d rather be going through life with, and no other family I’d want to be growing. To celebrate, Noam took me to the Social Club restaurant in our hotel. What was unique about this experience– and it’s something we both loved – is that the Chef brought out several courses, we got to experience and taste different flavors and as a foodie family, this worked perfectly for us. Some of my favorite parts of the meal were the lobster mac and cheese, spicy thai noodles, fried chicken, and the dessert. Oh my goodness-those tiny warm donuts paired with a variety of dipping sauces…! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. The warm caramel and melted chocolate sides were divine with the little fried balls of dough. It’s a good thing the hotel had all of the aforementioned workout classes!
All in all, we had a truly wonderful stay at the Kimpton Surfcomber in Miami Beach. It was the perfect short getaway for our family and Noam and I loved celebrating our anniversary in the Floridian warmth. I would love to know, though, how you all celebrate your anniversaries, especially if you, too, have kids. Let me know, as we’re always looking for suggestions!
